Description

Sijo David Kerr has been teaching out of my Pasadena studio since 2003, but has been teaching Jiu Jitsu and Progressive Wing Chun since 1991. Before opening his Pasadena studio, Sijo Kerr ran lessons in a San Gabriel studio from 1991 to 2003.

Students come from as far as Mission Viejo, Irvine, Riverside, Oxnard, Temecula, Redlands, Santa Clarita and Thousand Oaks, driving to the Pasadena studio to train 2 to 3 times per week. Not many studios have students travel over 100 miles round trip multiple times per week to train, but we do at KERR MMA.

KERR MMA teaches TRUE Chi Sau (“Sticking Hands”) and Chi Gerk (“Sticking Legs”) techniques while incorporating high cardio boxing drills that emphasize “Fast Hands”, the body movement of advanced boxers, and speed and coordination drills using focus mitts to train the muscle memory and eye/hand coordination that is a must for fighters. In addition, we use a variety of cardio exercises such as jumping and “Quick Feet” drills that increase a person’s fast twitch fibers, and High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T) exercises and drills to push the student’s body into being the best athlete he or she can be.

We want to train athletes along with fighters along with MMA people along with the person who just wants to learn some “real” self defense to increase their self-confidence and make them feel secure because they have learned from the best instructors at the most innovative-yet-”old school” studio around.
