Welcome to the home of Asylum Vale Tudo Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire’s number one MMA team.
AVT MMA is one of the UK and Europe’s leading mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teams, with active competitors that have featured in the likes of the UFC, Bellator, BAMMA, ACB, Cage Warriors and more.
Already established in Yorkshire with the long-standing AVT Leeds gym run by our head coach Danny Mitchell (UFC and Bellator veteran, BJJ black belt), we’re now bringing this elite brand of martial arts coaching to Scunthorpe.

AVT pride ourselves on having specialists in the areas of real, functional martial arts. At AVT Scunthorpe, these include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Muay Thai, boxing, wrestling, and submission grappling, whilst also implementing these skill sets into mixed martial arts (MMA).

The knowledge and experience of our coaches is unrivalled anywhere in the area, and they have the credentials to back it up. Our brand-new, premium facility also offers the best training space around, but it’s the friendly, laid-back atmosphere that our members value the most.

We cater to all levels, from beginners just starting their martial arts journey as a hobby, to professional athletes in the world’s biggest promotions. Our well-equipped gym in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, offers training for all, no matter what your level of fitness or experience is.

We have a successful competition team in both grappling and MMA, but it is not a necessary part of being an AVT member. Our members come from all walks of life to keep fit and learn new skills, and train right alongside those wishing to step in the cage or ring.

If you do wish to compete, we’re the best place to do so for motivated, hard-working candidates, who are willing to show the right attitude and determination. Our coaches can organise amateur bouts when you are ready, as well as educate you on the routes to the professional ranks.
