Description

The MAC, a 501c3 non-profit organization, was founded in 1975 by Akira Tohei Shihan, a key figure in the global expansion of Aikido. Because of his leadership and vision, and the ongoing dedication of his students, the MAC has developed into a strong, stable community. Our membership represents diversity in all of its aspects, reflecting the universal appeal of Aikido. Practice is the most important part of membership but not the only part. All members participate in our community by training as often as they are able, helping new beginners, caring for the dojo, and participating in seminars, to name just a few examples.

Our dojo is a bright, inviting, open space, with a mat surface of over 4,000 square feet, making it one of thelargest dedicated Aikido dojo in the world. We have two clean, spacious dressing rooms, each with showers. We are conveniently located near the intersection of Damen and Montrose, steps from the Brown Line El. Abundant street parking is available.

The MAC is open to the public and visitors are welcomed and encouraged to observe class at any time, without appointment.
