Originally Established as Bateman Taekwondo in 1969
My Father was an American Pioneer of Martial Arts and a pre-MMA era mixed martial artist in his own right. Having began his martial arts training in the mid 1950's, he would go on to introduce the military style of Taekwondo to Alabama in the late 1960's. Unique in his time, he was skilled in a variety of systems including Karate, Hapkido, Judo & Boxing. It was with this diversity of training that I would begin my own journey in the martial arts.

The NXGeneration is born...
In 2004 we launched Team NXG to honor my father's commitment to showcase quality, fighting martial arts without regard to race or financial class. NXG would go on to compete at the international level (2011 Taekwondo International Goodwill Games pictured with delegates from Ethiopia), achieving great success.

In addition to Taekwondo, I spent many  years around the Southeast Asian community where I found a great love for Muay Thai (Muay Lao) kickboxing, and as many in the modern era I would later begin Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well.

Having represented my father's brand for decades, he encouraged me to follow through with my own vision as the beginning of a new era...

Having accumulated 30+ years personal martial arts experience at a relatively young age, the team began competing in not only Taekwondo, but Kickboxing, MMA, and BJJ Competitions as well.

As a full expression of our experience, we became NXG Combat Sports were we proudly carry on a legacy spanning more than 50 years!
