Waugh Jiu-Jitsu Academy - It’s not about beating people up. It’s about Building people up!

Have you ever heard of a martial arts school that focuses on self-defense… and making your mind stronger too?

We’re a modern, family oriented Brazilian jiu-jitsu school with a direct focus – to provide physical and mental training to boost your health, improve confidence, and teach you amazing self-defense techniques.

Family Focused. Men, women, and children learn in an environment that focuses on martial arts technique as well as the promotion of respect and discipline.

This translates to better performance at work, home, and in school.

Empowerment & Positivity. We’re committed to teaching high quality martial arts paired with the mindset and methods that will empower you to become a leader in your community.

A positive mental outlook goes a long way too – from achieving life goals to accomplishing day-to-day tasks!

Community Focused. We have a direct and unwavering mission: to create a safe haven of positive energy where students can learn valuable life-saving skills.

Located in the heart of the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex, we are dedicated to making our community safe, fun, and something to really be proud of.

Orlando Waugh, Master Instructor

Master Orlando Waugh, now a 4th degree Black Belt,  dreamed of becoming a martial arts master at a very young age. And at age of 13 he began his formal martial arts training. Since that moment, he has dedicated his entire life to the study and sharing of martial arts and has been teaching for over 20 years.

He has studied Tae Kwon Do, Freestyle Karate, Boxing, Thai Boxing, Kung Fu, Krabi Krabong, Wrestling, Esckrima, and of course, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Master Waugh has black belts in Tae Kwon Do, Freestyle karate, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He holds a 4th degree blackbelt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Grand Master Carlos Machado.

In 2002 he opened Waugh Jiu-Jitsu Academy. His goal in opening the academy was to create a “safe haven” of positive energy where students could learn life-saving skills in a safe environment.

With the assistance of Sr. Program Director, Black Belt Sarina Waugh, they continue to spread a clear message to the community. Martial arts is NOT about beating people up. But it IS about building people up!
